ABOUT

From the artist

Born and raised in a suburb outside of Copenhagen, I grew up with a strong sense of resilience, ingenuity, and creativity—qualities perhaps rooted in my working-class community. Now based between London and Copenhagen, I work as a director and theatre maker, embracing a curious and experimental approach to create performances that are thought-provoking, questioning, and playful.

I hold an MA in Advanced Theatre Practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, and my time there shaped the distinctive methodology that I use in all my work today. I’m a bit of a 2-in-1 deal, as I enjoy working both as a director/theatre maker and set designer, which allows me to simultaneously develop content, form and the visual concept in an ongoing dialogue. This method has proven incredibly beneficial, creating a multi-layered exchange all the way through the proces and ensuring it evolve together organically.

Over the years, I’ve directed a number of musicals, particularly those dealing with heavier and more serious topics, but always with a hint of dark humor. My love for risk-taking and pushing boundaries has naturally led me toward a passion for theatre concerts and experimental theatre, which offer endless opportunities for creative exploration.

In 2020 I founded my own theatre company, CrushRoom—a dynamic space where new and existing collaborators can come together depending on what the production needs. CrushRoom is designed to be a creative house, evolving with each new project and adapting to the specific needs of the piece at hand.

As an artist, I’m passionate about asking critical questions, whether I’m working with an established text or creating a new devised piece. My work often navigates through themes of justice, social critique, and the desire to question the injustices in the world. I aim to create performances that not only provoke thought but also engage the audience directly—whether it being through interactions, surprises, or contrasts, and with sound, music and a sustainable DIY spirit playing a key role in serving the logic of the piece.
Though the themes may be serious, I believe in balancing them with humor—often a darker, sharper variety—to create a well-rounded and impactful experience. I trust my gut and my collaborators, and I always remain open to the unexpected, embracing the challenges and learnings that come with each new project.
